Strobist info: two flashes; one on each side of the smoke firing slightly towards the camera in a cross -- both set to 1/4 power. 50mm manually focused on the tip of the stick and then camera moved up just enough to get stick out of the scene. ISO 100, f/8, 1/250 of a second. Black board behind all for background.
Post processed in Photoshop. Four corners checked for absolute black. There is still some light in the center bottom; however, I left it. I inverted the colors (which makes background go white), converted to B/W (gets rid of flash white balance issue), new layer filled with green color and switched to "color". Finally, base image was sharpened with extreme settings.
